Crash Testing - Human Subject Interaction with Airbag

This video clip is an excerpt from a KTRK ABC 13 news story that was broadcast in Houston, Texas. Be sure to turn on your speakers so you can hear the airbag deployment in the onboard video. If you want to see the entire news story, click HERE

Mr. Cox has performed numerous vehicle-to-vehicle crash tests with human voluteers since 1995. Every once in a while, he will climb behind the wheel, place sensitive accelerometers on his body and perform a test.

The impact speed of the Ford Taurus was 31.6 mph and the change in velocity was -18.6 mph.

Mr. Cox emerged from the test unscathed, except for some superficial skin irritation on his forearms and face from interacting with the airbag.
